The core purpose of the Senior Project Manager is to guide and navigate development and/or public infrastructure projects to successful completion to ensure success for the business and its clients. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for formulating the project approach and vision as well as communicating these to the design team. This includes providing training and development opportunities for staff to ensure excellence. The role involves ensuring adherence to company / department standards of practice, as well as Quality Assurance (QA) processes, while also managing project workloads. Additionally, the Senior Project Manager participates in proposal/contract preparation, project scheduling, client coordination, regulatory agency coordination, and project team management, and ensures that Engineering projects are successful. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for helping to market and sell the businesses full array of services and plays a key role in ensuring client satisfaction, while maintaining project schedules and controlling project budgets. The biggest factor that separates the Senior Project Manager from a Project Manager 2 is degree of expertise. The Senior Project Manager is expected to be an expert in managing projects and maintaining client relationships, and to demonstrate mastery in communicating with clients, regulatory stakeholders, and the businesses staff. The Senior Project Manager should be a demonstrated leader, capable of developing and mentoring other project managers.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and promotes the company vision and department goals
  • Provides regular feedback and updates to supervisors and stakeholders
  • Takes independent initiative to conduct project kick-off meetings
  • Proactively ensures that all projects undergo QC review in accordance with established company practices
  • Establishes meeting rhythms to regularly reinforce Quality program
  • Follows up with CAD personnel to ensure CAD files are setup properly
  • Assists in ensuring that Site Design Standards are up to date and ensures they are followed projects managed by the Sr. PM
  • Conducts meetings at appropriate intervals to review progress and upcoming deadlines
  • Proactively ensures projects have adequate resources allocated on a weekly (or other appropriate) basis
  • Projects managed are within established budgets
  • Projects managed meet established schedules and/or client is satisfied with ongoing schedule management
  • Identifies and resolves project issues and conflicts promptly
  • Proactively negotiates change orders when appropriate

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering is required.
  • Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer
  • 10 - 15 years of post-graduate experience in Site Engineering
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships
  • Experienced in Client Management
