Position Overview
As the Vice President of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the operational strategy and execution of a start-up data center development company. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as the interim COO, you will oversee all operational functions, including facilities & site managment, project management, facility development, and business operations, to drive growth and operational excellence during this critical phase of our company's evolution.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the company's vision, mission, and goals.
• Oversee the end-to-end development lifecycle of data center facilities, from site selection and land acquisition to construction and commissioning.
• Lead and mentor cross-functional teams responsible for project management, engineering, construction, and operations, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes to ensure the efficient allocation of resources and achievement of financial objectives.
• Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to support project development and operational needs.
• Implement best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize operational efficiency, scalability, and sustainability across all aspects of the business.
• Develop and implement risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges associated with project development and operation.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in operations management, preferably in the data center or real estate development industry.
• Proven track record of successfully leading operational functions and driving business growth in start-up or high-growth environments.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and initiatives.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of data center development processes, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Experience working in equity-backed start-ups or venture capital-funded companies is a plus.
