Director of Engineering (MEP) - Data Center Development

Location: United States (Remote)

Company Overview: I am working with a Mission Critical Start-up, specializing in Data Center Development driving innovation in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation. The founding leadership team has built over 300 Data Centers Internationally, and they have secured funding to tackle the challenges of ever-growing demand for this sector.

 

Position Overview: As a Director of Engineering, you will spearhead the design, development, and execution of Data Center projects, leveraging your expertise in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. As a partner in the firm, you will help shape the design process, working with Architecture, Engineering, and State/County authorities across the USA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team in the conceptualization, design, and deployment of Data Center facilities.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency through advanced engineering methodologies, ensuring scalability, reliability, and sustainability in all projects.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including architects, project managers, and operations teams, to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation of cutting-edge technologies and best practices in electrical and mechanical systems design.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocations to ensure on-time and within-budget delivery.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, contractors, and regulatory bodies to facilitate project success and compliance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record (8+ years) in engineering leadership roles within Data Center development or similar large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Deep technical expertise in electrical and/or mechanical systems design, power distribution, cooling systems, and energy efficiency.
  • Strong project management skills with experience in managing complex, cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to Data Center design and operation.
  • Experience with green energy initiatives and sustainable practices in engineering.

Location: Fully remote position; candidates from any location will be considered.
