Director - Master Planning - Mission Critical Facilities/Data Centers

Location: Dallas, TX / Northern Virginia

We are a leading recruitment agency seeking a dynamic Senior Project Manager for a leading Data Center Developer. This role is ideal for individuals who have come from a planning role within the Mission Critical/Life Sciences sector.

Our client values transparent communication, collaborative partnerships, and a focus on consistent execution. As a Master Planner, you will play a crucial role in the development, design, and delivery of data center campuses, ensuring that projects are completed on time and meet stakeholder needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communication & Risk Management: Provide clear, unmanaged communications, and escalate risks and issues that need mitigation and/or resolution.
  • Master Planning: Lead engagement and planning with Development, Design, and Delivery teams to create a master plan for phased design, permitting, development, and construction of data center campuses.
  • Partnerships: Build and maintain collaborative, solutions-focused partnerships with development partners and contractors to ensure stakeholder needs are met and projects are delivered efficiently. Responsibilities include:
  • Managing public works requirements such as roads, watermains, utility services, and pumping stations.
  • Overseeing complex proffered projects such as pedestrian green spaces, information centers, and equestrian facilities.
  • Coordination: Participate in weekly coordination calls with internal and external partners, managing upcoming costs and schedule deliverables against master plan need-by dates.
  • Scheduling: Manage project schedules that incorporate dependencies of public works, proffered projects, and the build-out of multi-phased large campuses.
  • Cross-functional Work: Collaborate with Development, Design, and Delivery teams to ensure projects are sequenced and delivered according to company principles.
  • Bid Process Management: Participate in the contractor bid process using the company’s standard for bid solicitations, RFP package development, and bid proposal analysis.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communicator with executives and customers, prioritizing high-quality, transparent information flow and issue escalation.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable with escalation and collaboration, rather than handling problems independently.
  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrates an aptitude for continuous improvement.
  • Organization: Extremely organized with the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Construction Experience: 5-8 years of construction experience with a competent understanding and experience in:
  • Contract management
  • Construction drawings and specifications across all disciplines, with a heavy focus on-site work and campus planning
  • Permitting processes and coordination with local jurisdictions
  • Project planning and site logistics strategy
  • Scheduling: Demonstrated ability to create and manage preconstruction and construction schedules.
  • Technology Proficiency: Comfortable with technology and adept in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Location & Travel: Based primarily in the Dallas office location with occasional travel to job sites (10-20% travel).
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

If you are a proactive, organized, and communicative project manager ready to take on exciting challenges in a growth-oriented environment, we want to hear from you!
