A leading architectural design firm based in downtown Boston is seeking a Technical Project Manager to join its highly collaborative, design-oriented practice. The Technical Project Manager will play a critical role in overseeing the technical execution of projects, ensuring the highest quality in construction documentation, coordination, and administration. This individual will be responsible for leading the development of comprehensive construction document sets, managing consultant coordination, and overseeing contract administration throughout project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the production and coordination of Construction Documents, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to project requirements
- Oversee Contract Administration, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, coordinating with contractors, and managing field observations
- Manage and coordinate the work of consultants to ensure seamless integration of building systems
- Maintain project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables, ensuring efficiency and quality
- Lead project correspondence, documentation, and administrative tasks related to construction and contract execution
- Provide technical guidance to junior staff and oversee their contributions to construction documentation
- Collaborate closely with design teams to ensure constructability while maintaining design integrity
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture
- Minimum of eight years of post-graduate experience, specifically focused on Construction Documents and Contract Administration for complex healthcare, scientific research, academic, or corporate research projects
- Strong understanding of building codes, construction detailing, and technical coordination
- Experience managing consultant teams and resolving technical challenges during project execution
- Strong communication skills to interface with clients, consultants, contractors, and design teams
- Proven ability to oversee project financials, including budgeting, scheduling, and contract negotiations
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Architectural registration and LEED accreditation are a plus
- Experience supervising junior staff and mentoring team members
- Familiarity with BIM workflows and Revit for technical documentation
